The World Cultures Festival Gémenos
Gémenos is a land of traditions. Our village carries with it the rich and various brands of a past still alive. Gémenos is its heritage from the past centuries. So it was natural to create there a festival during which one would celebrate traditional cultures at large "CULTURES OF THE WORLD"
Because in every region, in every country in today’s globalized world, there are huge swathes of traditional cultures, strong cultural identities, known or less known, we wanted to give them a way to express themselves at home in Provence, in an exceptional site.
Every two years so we organize a festival that grows gradually and whose high point remains the Big Show at the Théâtre de Verdure.
(4000 outdoor seating on hillside terraces, crowned with pines, a rainbow scene circle 23 meters in diameter and 17 meters deep.)
This site sees evolve artists from around the world to a colorful and multicultural show that illustrates "The Cultures of the World": songs, dances, music, costumes ... it’s an exotic and varied show which takes place in our set that there is the culture of Provence.
The other highlights of the festival are the "Bal des Nations" during which groups make the audience dance in a large international dance uniting the peoples party and discover the dances and music from elsewhere.
The "Thematic Evening" is the opportunity to enjoy a typical meal from one of the countries participating in an evening of entertainment provided by the company of the selected countries participating in the festival. The public can also perform a few dance after dinner, prompted and guided by the dancers and dancers.
All groups animate for seven days with parades danced through the village of Gémenos. They also participate in events in neighboring towns or in nursing homes, in restaurants during themed meals for example.
All The Poulido of Gèmo mobilized during the seven-day festival into a large exchange of cultural celebration and success both in terms of organization as the Quality Plan shows and animations proposed.
Our association is always looking for volunteers and other assistance for the organization of the festival (escorts, services, translators, logistical support and financial aid) and we welcome all people wishing to participate in this great adventure and provide support to the organizing team for the success and quality of the "Festival of World Cultures Gémenos" [Join us: see Contact page]
